Meet Miles!
We finally got to bring home our german shorthaired pointer puppy on Wednesday! We made the decision to get a dog and connected with our breeder nearly a year ago, so we have been waiting a long time. From finding out that puppy mama Roxy was pregnant to the day they pups were born to all the pictures and updates we received with anticipation during these past 9 weeks, we were eager beyond words to finally meet and bring home our little guy.
Pulling up to our the breeder’s house, I was a mixed ball of excitement, anxiety and nerves. Walking in the door to find him leaning up against the puppy pen looking right at us, I melted into a ball of joy and couldn’t stop the tears. Who knew we could love him so much just seconds after meeting him?
He was even cuter and more perfect than we imagined and we could not stop staring at his little face and rubbing him all over. He gave us tons of affection (and whimpered when we had to pay attention to some last minute details instead of him…) as we promised over and over that he would be coming home with us.
He has been a ton of fun so far and we are just loving his little habits and quirks, like squishing himself into the smallest crevices he can find, “interacting” with his reflection in the stove or window, thrashing his stuffies around and then collapsing in a tired heap on the couch.
Night-time has been a challenge, as we knew it would be, but we are making progress. All things considered, Miles is adjusting very well to his new home. As for “Mom” and “Dad”, home will never be the same again. Now it’s filled with even more love and unlimited cuddles.
We are going to be having a lot of fun with this guy! I have never owned a dog before and I honestly had no idea what to expect, but so far it is better than I could have imagined. It’s a lot of work and we haven’t had much sleep so far, but absolutely and completely worth it.

So adorable!! How fun to have a puppy!
He is absolutely adorable.
He is so cute. Sleep is very challenging. Enjoy him!
He is so cute. His head and body look like 2 different puppies. I’m going to live vicariously through you guys…we talked about getting another dog but our crazy schedules wouldn’t make it fair.
He’s SO CUTE! I love the “I’m exhausted” heap on the couch
What a fun little guy.
He is so adorable! The first couple weeks are tough when you are getting to know each other and figure stuff out, but I promise it gets better! And then you will love him even more
He is so cute! Have fun with your new family member!
He’s adorable! There’ll be days where you’ll be frustrated beyond belief but dogs are worth it.

OMG Marlene! sooooo cuuute! where did you get him?
Rob & I want a dog and your pup is soooo cute!
LOVE it! A million years ago I ran with a woman that had a german short-haired pointer, and I have always wanted one since. They are just so cute, with their floppy ears and dapple coat. Your Miles is the cutest dog, and appropriately named
Can’t wait to see him in “running” photos in the future! Enjoy all of this cuddle time!
He’s so cute. I love the last picture where it looks like he is pointing already.
Aww he is so cute! Brian and I most likely wont get a dog until after we have kids – right now its just too much and we don’t spend a lot of time at home so I would feel so bad leaving him inside.
He is so cute, love the shot of him all curled up on the couch! Too cute…Enjoy. I’m sure he’s going to be a great addition to the family!
I love it!!! congrats!
I love his name! Pure genius for a running family. And I recognise those smiles on your faces – the ‘I’ve got the cutest puppy in the world’ smiles – we’ve been wearing them for a whole week. I hope the sleeping settles down for you quickly. We had three unsettled nights (and by we I mean my oldest son Sam) but he’s been pretty good ever since. Or maybe the ear plugs I wear are really good.
Super Cute!!
eeeeeeep! Love puppeh pictures.
I know Kerrie will back me up on this – but get him into puppy classes ASAP. Or you’ll have another Bennie on your hands.
Already set up.
Thanks for the tip!
That is so cute that he is squiggling into small places. Our GSP is 3 and ahe still burrows into my parents’ couch between the pillows and the back when we visit. Rosemary’s endearing qualities include sucking her blankets and turning around in circles as fast as she can when she wants something (food, water, outside). Rosie has the same cutie pie dark face but her body is cream and brown. They are great dogs!
Congrats on the new addition! I am over the moon for all of you. Miles could not be cuter and I know he’ll be one badass runner just like his ‘rents very soon. Enjoy and keep sharing pics as I can never get enough!
Love the name………….
YAY! Welcome lil guy!
There’s going to be a lot of fun pictures!
What a cutie! Congrats!
Hello Miles! You are so cute, I can tell why mommy and daddy are so happy you came into their life!
Marlene, do you have a dog cradle (bench)? If Miles is crying at night and keeps you awake you could try to let him sleep in your bedroom in the cradle with the door of the cradle closed. Bella kept us awake too the first nights, as soon as we did this it was over. Miles just left his mommy and is probably a bit scared and alone at night. If it goes well, you can move the cradle to the next room after a few nights and continue till you got him where you want him to sleep. Bella still sleeps in our bedroom in the cradle but always doors closed, she can’t sleep on our bed.
Have lots of fun with this adorable little guy. I love him already.
Enjoy! He looks like a cutie.
I can’t imagine life without a dog in the house anymore. Although I must admit that I’m not a fan of the puppy years.
Awe you make the cutest family.
Love his name too…Miles. You are going to have a lot of fun running together.
He is a good looking puppy! Congrats! Now the fun beginss!!!:)
Wow– what an adorable puppy!!
So cute! Are you having him sleep in a kennel at night? With our second puppy, someone gave us a tip of putting the kennel on a chair by our bed so the puppy felt close to us at night and it made a world of difference.
He is beautiful! Congrats on the new addition. Enjoy all the puppy kisses.
